The whole end of season 2 is not right. According to all of the other movies/shows and books of Robin Hood, Robin is suppose to get married to Marian and she lives. The King is suppose to return to england and Marian should be there with Robin. That is how the story is suppose to go. With Marian dead, it changes the whole story of Robin Hood. I think they should remake the ending of Season 2 or there should be a miracle where Marian is not dead.
On the contrary, most of the early versions of the Robin Hood story do not end with Robin and Marian living happily together. In fact they all end with Robin being killed, often by a friar or a prioress. Either way, a tragic ending.
I really enjoyed the work of Lucy Griffiths in this series and I'm very sad to see her leave the show. But the tragedy fits in much better with the spirit of the original stories. Additionally, bringing Marian back after in any way after such a final farewell would be the absolute worst thing the show could be. the death of a main character in a story should carry weight and never be undone lest you risk having any future deaths be meaningless.

Life is depressing enough on it's own, people watch fantasy shows to give them hope!
This ending is beyond belief and a stab in the back for all those who have watched this for 2 years!
I'm not sure if she will come back "from the dead" in season three, but it would seem a little far stretched to have her die and come back again twice. I hope she does return in the third since there is much left for her to do...like helping Robin restore England to its former glory and resolving the love conflict between Robin and Sir Guy. You might say her death was resolve enough, but I don't think so. If she miraculously returns in season three, I believe it would help carry the plot on better with than without her.
The season 2 ending sucks. I'm not watching Season 3. Worse I spent $40.00 buying the DVD's im reselling them on ebay. Thank you "creative head writer" for screwing up the show.
The Robin Hood season 2, seem to have disappoint most fans, how to get Marian back,at least believably?
Take the characters back to the scene in the last episode, where they were tied up in the dessert, and rework all the scenes after as being an a hallucination.
I agree I wasted money buying the dvds for season 1 and 2 only to hurl at the ending of season 2. I am putting my dvds up for sale on Craigslist or ebay. Prime example of if its not broken why fix it. The "creativity" genius may have made something that makes sense to him/her. Must be nice to be able to use studio monies to make your own "personal" series for your own enjoyment. Think they could send me some of that money so I can remake the Last Indiana Jones movie for my own personal enjoyment?
It is too bad Marian was killed off in season 2. There are a good number of women who watch shows like this for the romance. Even if Robin and Marian where not always together, there was still the hope they would be again. I enjoyed season one so much I purchased the DVD. The last several shows where great. There was no way I was buying season 2 and will certainly not watch season 3. It would have been better if she had been say, kidnapped or something.
The final episode of season two was disappointing, I agree, but certainly not (in my opinion) for the reasons everyone else is stating. I found that while season two had some fine episodes, a lot of it was trash as well. The Robin/Marian romance was just for too gooey at times. At points it really made a person say, "Crimeny, let's get on with the show, shall we?" I do think that established characterization was off in several episodes of season two, and I do believe that Sir Guy would not have killed Marian (a sentiment Mr. Armitage expressed himself). Besideswhich, her death scene was unbelievably drawn out. More of the same overly romantic goo. I'm still looking forward to season three, though! Thanks for posting up these vids!

Killing Marion off was genius in my opinion. Even though she brought romance and femininity to the show, Robin Hood is not about fairy tales that end in "and they lived happily ever after!" Its about every single person in the band, every Robin Hood. I believe that her death put a realistic dimension on the show and will even make it more interesting for the watchers to see how Robin retaliates and finally saves England. Rumor has it that Friar Tuck is finally going to join the gang-now that is something to look forward to in season three! Now that is something to look forward to- and perhaps we will see the death of Guy or perhaps the reformation after he realizes his mistake. Don't get me wrong, I too fell in love with Marion, her spirit drew me jsut as well. But let us not forget what the story of Robin Hood is truly about-every person out there strong and willing enough to stand up against what is wrong and fight for what is right.
I hate the ending of season 2, i mean it is really not right for marian to die, your ruining the legend of robin hood because the legend has nothing in it where marian dies!!! Marian beter be alive in the 3rd season or im not watching it, its a disgrace to the LEGND!!!!!!!
the whole season 2 is diffrent from the original story, and i do not mean the other movies. the real stor tells that after about four years of marrige to marian, robin and gisbourne meets in a battle where gisbourne stabs robin to his side with his sword. but robin manage to gain strentgth and cut of gisbournes head. the outlaws finds robin and brings him to an abbey where the send words for marian. just at it seems that robin will make it, one of th friar poison the water. while ling on his deathbed he asks for his bow and fier off an arrow through the window and tells little john to berry him where the arrow lands. no one knows what was the last words said between marian and robin since he whispered them in her ear. after robins death, marian became a nun and lived the rest of her dasi in an abbey...thats at least what all the historians claim...bbc really twisted it..
I also didn't like the ending of the Season 2 and won't watch if Marion is gone. It's just not worth watching. Robin Hood should be with Marian.

Marion never did stay with Robin; if you watched the movie Robin and Marion or the earlier series with Praed and Connery (Jason) you know that Marion entered a convent in one and was the abbess of a convent in another.
Also one Robin died in the series and another took his place-so the idea that Marion comes back is not realistic.
I think the ending was great! With Marian dead there will be more battles and more adventure.Gisbourne might join up with Hood after killing the woman they both loved. Therefor they would both literally want the same thing, which is for Marian to live again.

Yeah, I also want to see season three, although I don't think they'll be able to carry it another season after this one without Marian as a love interest. The only love interests left in the show now our Jack and Will, and I seriously doubt that can carry the whole show. I think Marian's death signifies that unfortunately, season three will be the last season, which is sad, because I really love this show.

I dont believe she is dead. When Robin leaves Djaq he said "Take care of her" I think he was refering to Marian..
who knows when it's back. I don't think she died she well and Robin well have faked her death and she'll be back

I am sorry, but what the hell? I was an avid watcher of this programme and then they go and kill Marion. There is no Robin Hood without Marion the two go hand in hand and i for one will be less inclined to watch it when it comes back. The story of Robin Hood is a classic and you cant change it that much, yes modern changes are good all the special effects were ,but killing off Marion come on? She shouldnt be allowed to leave, they should make people sign a contract that says they have to stay until they end the programme because this kind of thing just ruins it for everyone. The amount of young children that watched it, its in absolutely wrong that they killed her. People need fantasy programmes such as this to give them hope its meant to end like a fairy tale and that not happening defys everything that is right.

I liked her too and I loved the chemistry between her and Guy and it was a shock ending.

You know, I enjoy the show very much. I wanted to start from the beginning, so my husband and i netflixed the seasons. I really liked Marian's character and the developing relationship between her and Robin was quite interesting. However, in life, endings are not always happy. I like that they showed a sense of reality in the season 2 finale. It's sad marian's character will be gone though because she brought a presence to the show that will be hard to replace. I will watch season 3 with enjoyment and I can't wait to start watching!
*Oh by the way, the full story of Robin hood, which is true, is not fully understood. There are names, locations, and estimated time periods. However, there are very few solid facts about who Robin Hood was. Every story out there about Robin Hood takes "Creative License" to make the story work in the way that makes sense to them. There's nothing wrong with that. The direction that BBC's original series has taken could very well be what actually happened and is done quite believably. However, to what actually happend, I don't think we will ever know. Robin Hood is an inspiring character and is an example of a strength that most of us lack. I think it's wonderful we continue to read, watch, and write stories about him.
Does Marion live???? please tell me she does, i hope she does. If she really is dead then what romance follows through into the 3rd series... you need her in the 3rd series.

I think this will be good for the series. Robin won't be worrying about Marian anymore, Guy will be an awesome villain who isn't lovesick over her, and maybe we'll avtually get to see Robin doing some bloodthirsty fighting because he wants revenge against Guy for killing Marian. And Sarah's right...gee wiz, did the necks have to get lower every stinkin' episode?
The one I'm really sad about is Will! He was such a good character, and they were really developing his personality in series 2. I'm not gonna miss Djaq or Marian.
And guys, no, the legend doesn't say they're supposed to get married and live happily ever after...in the original tales, Marian didn't even EXIST!
I actually enjoyed both seasons, the thing I cannot beleive is Jonas Armstrong leaving after season 3...
What are they going to do? Kill Robin? Or hire a new actor to take over the role...if they kill him off it won't be Robin Hood, and if they get someone to take over the role it won't feel the same...
My guess is that either;
1. Robin will die.
2. King Richard will return, overthrow the sherriff, and restore Robin as Lord of Locksley, thus ending Robin's adventures in the woods.
I wouldn't mind the second ending. It would be nice to see the sherriff get his. :Þ
Okay. Here are my opinons on the main points of discussion.
1.) Jonas leaving. Get over it. He knows what he needs to do, so let him do it.
2.) Marian's death. I think that the ending was alright. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. Besides, Robin and Guy will probably really go at it, now, and that will be really cool.
Some other things...
The second season was way to mushy gushy love story for me. I liked the first way better. Anyway, I will miss Will. He was a good character. Djaq, whatever. Won't miss her a bit. And what was with her wearing a bra on the outside of her shirt? Just asking.
Those are my opinions on the subjects.
The series was not all that bad. One of the major issues for me were the costumes. For pretty much all of the characters to have shoes with molded rubber soles....come on. For there to be zippers on the sheriffs shoes in the last episode. I like the series but the lack of some of the detail just really took away from the series for me. I am curious to find out what is going to happen in season 3 whenever it is supposed to come out
you're all saying what the 'proper' ending is, but the point of robin hood is that there isn't a 'proper' ending. there is loosely based structures that almost all the stories stick to, but there are so many different versions - thats the point, its a LEGEND. its not true. calm down dears.
I was sad to see her die as well, but that is not what really got me about the ending. Tell me why she was not armed? They are in the middle of a fight and they did not harm her!? What the hell! I would have been ok with it if she and Guy had fought and she lost, but to just stand there and get stabbed? On the plus side at least I will not be rolling my eyes at all the mush in during the 3rd season.
Well they really screwed up this series. i mean what kind of idiot sign a main character for 2 or 3 years? look at smallville they locked up clarke kent for 8 seasons. But for me the end of season 2 was really gay and corny " We are robin hood" that line was embarassing throughout the show. so now that will scarlet and marian are gone, the show will not be the same. with robin leaving in season 3 the show is doomed. way to screw up a good thing! but while i did like this series alot, it had its flaws. first thing was the costumes, they were cheap and corny, i mean it looked like djaq was wearing brown jeans. and its stupid how robin could fire arrows as fast as a bloody machine gun. Hah the ratings will drop so bad for season three as everyone knows rbin is leaving, the little girls favorite will scarlett is gone, and the women who liked the love interest of marian/robin /guy wont bother with the series anymore
how can anybody say that the ending of season two was great, I mean i loved all of the loveydovie.... but you simply can't kill Marion, i love the lovestory between them. There simply must be a miracle start of season tree where Marion is alive, PLEASE let there be a miracle.

If they were going to kill off Marion, they might as well have not had her at all.
If I were to do a Robin Hood tv show, Robin would not have a love interest at all, but rather, he takes a vow of celibacy and chastity as part of his devotion to the Virgin Mary. (as told in the pre Marion versions of the story.) Marion wouldn't even be in it all.
I would add two other characters. Ivanhoe, (since Robin and his merry men appeared in the book of the same name,) and William Tell, who ends up in England after a warrant is issued for his arrest in Switzerland. (I know Robin and Tell are different time periods, but I wonder what it would be like if the two fought side by side.)
Anyway, The BBC Robin hood is much worse than that cartoon "King Arthur and the Knights of Justice) where the "knights" are actually members of a football team, transported to King Arthur's period. The knights resemble rejected power rangers, and one of the villains, and evil knight, can fly and is named 'Viper." If BBC did the same with Robin hood, It couldn't be any worse than what was done in Season 2.
I know it was so awful when Marian died and I agree with one of the other comments, that Guy was too in love with Marian to kill her, but I am still going to watch the next season and see how I feel. I think it's very unfair to just say because you hated the ending to season 2, you are never going to watch Robin Hood again. It is immpossible to please everyone with the ending. I think you should all just watch the first few episodes and see what you think. You might love it!!
Hate to have to break this to you all but Maid Marian didn't actually exist in the Robin Hood Legend. She was basically a character brought in centuries later to make the whole Robin Hood legend more adaptable to modern times. If you vist Rufford Abbey in Nottinghamshire it tells you the whole story and explains the whole Maid Marian episode. So technically she should not have been there in the first place. Sorry peeps!!!
I'm looking forward to this next season. with all the romance in the ast season I felt as though the series was starting to go off track.
Did anyone else have a perverse wish to see Marian somehow redeem and wind up with Guy? I'm very curious if the guilt Guy feels from his murder makes him a better or worse man. I think the writers could have some fun with role reversal here, given that Marian is no longer a physical driving force. I always found Guy to be a complex and interesting character – actually a lot more interesting than Robin from a viewer’s perspective!
Honestly, the whole Marian dying was good, marians kinda ur stereotypical "im a main character hyperactive narcassistic (Hope i spelled right xD) B*&^% ", Now, if Marian was a Neopagan Witch or something, and when she was stabbed, put a curse of the sheriff, now thats entertainment! I know, unreallistic, but then again, all of us have different taste
I hated the idea of Marion dying she was amazing and that is sooo not how it goes.
Anyway it looks like Robin is falling in love with Kate. I think that spoils it. I always thought Marion and Robin would live happily EVER after and they would kill the sherrif and mean old sir guy of gisborn.

Marion was more than just Robin's love, she was the heart of the show. Losing her and Jack was too much for the show. Kate is annoying and in no way can fill either of their shoes. It should have remained a 13 part series like BBC intended before BBC America started seeing $$ signs
even though marian and robin were really cute and "meant to be together",they didnt really have a choice because lucy griffith was leaving the show, if they had just bought a new person in to play her it would have ruined it and if they had just ended it there with a happily ever after people would have complained anyway, so i think the ending is quite good. (even though its really sad and i will miss the character)
The only traitor in this serie was Marian. She has been using Gisborn in any possible way!

I really don't like how Robin is all over Isabella, its like he has completely forgotten Marion! Guy seems to think of her more than him, or it least the writers are showing it that way. They should bring Marion back or at least re-enforce in some way that she was Robins true love. I know that sounds cheesy but I really dislike how they cheapened their love but letting him chase loads of women!.
I think that the pity is that the true romance of the story (Marianne and Guy) is finished...

OK first off there are different versions of events on what really happened to "robin hood" some say neither died, some say one of them does, but for killing off Marrian could or could not be a possibly rating killer.
She was keeping things interesting, probably not for you as it was killing your episode fantasy on which you day dreamed you where marrian and she was killing your dreams.
See that was possible fiction, there's nothing fictional about robin hood it was a legendary story which most writer's like to change to suit how they would like things to play out, learn what fiction means before claiming something to be in.
Look on the bright side though, if the Americans had written the show it would have been an American stranded on England after a shipwreck and setting off to save England as they do everything else.
