no one told me when i purchased this card that there was an activation number on receipt. i am not able to get thru on the phone numbers listed on the card therefore i am un able to use this card. need help. i did not keep receipt. i even gave one as a gift and they cannot use the card. do not recommend this card.
My daughter got one as a gift and can not activate. I have spent more time on this stupid card and there is no way to talk to someone on the phone. The website was no help either.
DO NOT GET THIS CARD IF YOU PLAN TO ACTIVATE IT FOR A MINOR. My daughter was leaving on a trip and so I picked up a card the morning of the day she was to leave. For whatever reason, they could not verify my daughters information and after repeated attempts, the customer service rep was locked out of the system. Now I have to wait 7 - 10 days for a refund check, but that does me no good as my daughter needed the card that day!

this was an awful experience tried to activate a card online and went through the whole process and then it came up your refund has been processed please allow 7 to 10 days for processing then had to wait 30 plus minutes to speak to anyone. at the end of the phone activationyou are asked do you want a second card so you better not have more than 1 because you will get an automatic refund whether you expect it or not and god i hope you dont depend on this means to pay any bills over the phone. so do i agree with these walmart prepaid visas absolutely not. more stress that its worth.
SCAM! What a nightmare! Yes, I made the mistake of not keeping my @#$! receipt (which has the activation number, God only knows why its on the receipt) so of course, now, I cannot activate, use the card or get a refund. I've called about ten different numbers - useless. I've spoken to Walmart managers - incompetent, rude and hopeless. I've even tried Visa directly, since it has the Visa logo, and they don't seem to want any responsibility. If important documents such as birth certs, Social Security cards and credit cards can be recreated if lost, why can't I be helped with my lost receipt of this @#!$%! money card? Not only will I never purchase another Walmart money card (of course), I will also never shop at Wal-mart again.
If you purchase this card prepare yourself for a looooooooooooong period of frustration, disapointment, and a lot of other words that discribe despair. Please do not purchase this card.
This card is a scam. I have been trying to activate it for two days now. And I do have all the information I need. I am calling my local Walmart and putting in a big complaint. I just called again on my phone and got hung up on. What a rip off!

I love this card, me and my husband both couldn't stop spending money till we got this card! now we can have money to pay our bills and money left over, I even went on line and paid a bill with my card. If you want to save money the card is the way to go! I love it!

First, it does not save you money, I have no clue where you got that idea. Second, everytime you you buy gas,they keep out an additional $35.00. Best part is that the $35 per gas transaction wont clear for 5 days! 5 DAYS PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!
If you are on a trip and stop for gas 3 times, thats $105.00 that they keep out of your account for 5 DAYS.
I bought this card as a gift. Imagine my embaressment when the person I gave it to had to spend over an hour trying to activate this thing, was asked all sorts of personal information (that will be sold to mailing list services no doubt) a ssn is not a legal form of i.d. and I don't see how much damage the "terrorists" can do with a $100. debit card.
This card is a rip-off. I ended just giving the person the $100 cash and now I can try to deal with these hustlers on my own.
My best advise:Run,don't walk away from any dealings with this scam.
What a scam. Did you notice that even though it takes 7-10 days to get the card (if you can get the stinking thing activated at all) they charge a maintanence fee of 3.50 a month after 10 days?
This thing is a major rip. not only will I never buy one of these again I will not shop at Wal-Mart again.

Phyllis is back~My card got me from Texas to Florida, paid for all my gas. If my card didn't save money for me I wouldn't have made it to my Paradise Island, I love you card, And I love my Island!!! Didn't take nothing out for gas. And if you can't afford $3.00 a month out of your card I feel sorry for you!!
My daughter was given this card by our pastor and his wife as a graduation present. No receipt was given and there is no way to activate this card or no way to talk to a person to help activate this card. I would never recommend purchasing this card for anyone.

It looks like "Phyllis" might actually be "Wal-Mart" since she is the only one who has positive things to say about this CRAP CARD! I am SO FRUSTRATED! I got this card as a gift and took the card out of the package and threw away what it came in...I have NEVER had a giftcard that you need to have a receipt to activate it! TOTAL SCAM

This is stupid. I have been trying to activate this card for over a week. Now that my temporary card has been activated, they want a utility bill with my name and address on it and other stuff that I faxed in, but still they are unable to approve anything. I don't even think that they need those informations. Just a waste of time.
Yes, activating the card was a pain in the hanabacha but it sure beat sending money grams at $11 some odd dollars a pop. I am my daughter's payee and I just got tired of filling out mo, cashires checks and such to send her money during visits elsewhere. I am truely sorry you guys are stuck but, my daughter and I consider it a blessing. Hopefully I will figure out h0ow to put money on it online instead of going to walmart to do it.
I use these cards often for online purchases. My only complaint is the limit that you can load on them. It took me three cards to get everything I needed from the Apple store (2 for the computer, 1 more in a seperate order for software and extended warranty) but it was easier than ordering by phone and waiting and worrying about a $3,000 check going through the mail. I only use them once - the monthly fee is ridiculous - just cut them up after I use the money.
This card is good for people who cannot get a checking account and a credit card because they were reported to Cheksystems and/or have bad credit.
It's only $3.00 to cash and load a paycheck onto the card.
You can use it for online purchases, including renting a car and reserving a hotel room.
This card is a good thing I got two cards on with my name and with my girlfriend and on same account no problem activation no problem no problem whatsoever with the card. Walmart staff were great. And helpful. Thank you
I am so sick and tired of people complaining about Walmart. If you're so unhapy with everything about the store, then why in the world do you keep going back. Only a moron doesn't look at their receipts, and you're not too swift either to the person that just threw the packaging away for a card that you didn't even activate yet.
I purchased a walmart student edition for my daughter. I was unable to compleat enrollment with my daughters information, due to the walmart specialist not beinging able to verify my information. I informed the specialist that I was recently married and my name was not the same as on my social security card. I was informed to fax info. I dont have a fax machine or access to one. I was told to go to walmart & use card to purchase another. My daughter lives out of town & still can't get her card. this will cost me $6.00 x 2 = $12.00 to replace this card = $3.50 mo. fee. The parent load card is not effective. The walmart specialist is not a specialist. Plus they have access to all you personal infomation.
The card is good for things the other credit card can do but not for renting cars. I had a terrible experience couple of weeks ago, after making the reservation with car rentals on getting there, I gave them my walmart card, they told me point blank we do not take walmart card.I told them they can check it out that there is money in the card even ten times more than the required for deposit, they vehimently turned me down.Not only one car renting company it applied to Budget, Enterprise,Fox just to mention a few. I think the company should be able to help out with this situation

ran it through the card processor, it came up no money in the account.Now, I say where the heck is it? I'm going to cancel my card out.It cost $3.50 everytime I load it with money.That's not saving money!!! I can do better at my bank for a debit card
don't get this card somehow my name was not on the card. another person in my family's name was on it yet I could loaded the card with my check card but the card went through check system and stop payment put a note on my account and I had more than enough money in the acct. Don't get the card please.
First of all, you must be an idiot if you load money on the card and then don't keep the receipt. It states right on the the temporary card pkg. and also the receipt, "Keep this receipt for your records"! I am on disability and have my check direct deposited on this card, and have never had a problem. I have also bought things online at Ebay, Target etc. no problem there either. Of course they authorise abut $75.00 when you buy gas, but it's always reversed when you complete the transaction, and the gas station determines how much to authorise, not GE Moneybank who issues the debit card, nor WalMart. Also use it as "Debit" not "Credit" when you purchase. Cmon people, you have to be smarter than the card. I think it's a great debit card. Provided you have more than a 5th grade education. The card is not a scam.
Hello, For Those People Who Lost Their receipt, Which Has The Activation Number & Pin Number. Have The Visa Gift Card With You And Then, Call 1-877-965-7848, For Activation & a New Pin Number. You Will Be Asked A lot Of Personal Information For Security Purposes Prior To Being Assisted By a Wal-mart Visa Money Card Respresentative. Good Luck.
If you can get a debit card through your financial institution, then you should do that. For other purposes, then this is a good deal. The $3 reload fee and $3 monthly fee is very reasonable. I had no problem activating the card (I got the student version with two cards), and also reloading money onto the card. If you are careful about how you use the card, it should be very useful. I particularly like being able to get the balance via text messages on my cell phone. If you can't manage a small amount of complexity, then you shouldn't get one.
I have used the card more than once. I have no problem activating it but, the fact they charge you a fee every time you put money on it when you pay for the card to begin with!!! Then you also get money taken out for fees!!!! The card is a rip further more at some places it doesnt even work.... and sometimes will say I have inssuficent funds when I put money on tghe damn card and haven't even used it yet..... I hate it and wouldn't reccomend it to anyone!!!! And this Phylis person clearly works for Walmart or has no life to spend so much time praising this BS card just because she doesnt know how to be responisble with Money in the first place!!!!

The Visa money card Sucks and is a Scam!
I have had this card for over 2 yrs and never had a problem. First thing that I see with these posts is that everyone has misunderstood it to be a gift when it is NOT. Gift cards will say that they are so, if you read the information provided on the package, it will tell you that it is a prepaid card. Which means you load a balance on it, and can purchase items on it, just like a debt card to a checking account. In fact, look at it exactly as such. Second of all, it says right on the card how to activate the card and where the activation number can be found. I just bought one for my husband recently and activated it. Third of all, anyone with common sense knows to keep the receipt, even if it for a gift, just in case it needs to be taken back or something. I know my parents taught me that as a child. And yes the cashier should have told you to keep the receipt, but sometimes they don't unless YOU ask them how to use it. Lastly, didn't anyone teach you to read ALL of the writing on the card package???? Don't tell me that no one kept their packages either.... All of this is common sense, and so far from what I have read by most of these posts, is that not many of you have any. Go whine to yourselves for not having enough brains to read all of the paperwork and not keeping the receipt.
I LOVE this card it's awesome I have never had a problem always good customer service never a problem. It's great to have the freedom of a debit card I can never overdraft on or the bank puts through debits even though your overdrawn. When this card is emty it's done till you reload it. My fiance' & I beleive if you don't have cash you don't need to buy it, so this is awesome since we do not use credit cards we are still able to purchase online & use for rentals of hotels , cars & even buy our airline tickets inadvance:) We love it!!!!!
I got this card on November 9, 2009, followed their procedure in trying to activate it, but ended up regretting the decision to obtain the card. I was directed to fax lots of documents which i did the next day, but up till this moment, the temporary card is neither activated, nor have i received any other personalised card from Walmartmoneycard or received even a call from them. Could the management of this big company deliberately close their eyes over this type of act? America should please help me recover my money!
That person talking about common sence and Phyllis don't really care about our problem. They are probably rich people that wanna make us feel bad cuz we have problems activating that stupit VISA card. A lot of times we do NOT keep the rec. cuz there is a 1800 # on the back of the card if you have any PROBLEMS, but customer service is not that important to some people. I am upset at walmat cuz they don't want to deal with the problem, I tried to talk to them and they said "sorry there is nothing I can do for you, I recomend you keep the package and gift card together" like that is gonna do anything for me, I got the visa gift car 08/29/09 and still haven't talk to anyone that can help. I DO BELIEVED 110% CUSTOMER SERVICE
